MS 251 C-BE is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 307.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor starter, under powered, over priced Slow to start cold, very hard to start hot to the point of having to give hot restartsConstantly stall out while cutting spruce when engaging full length of barConsidering over all actual performance as compared to what Stihl promotes and the dealers say, it’s overpriced.A big disappointment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT SO EASY to START after One Week Worked great like advertised for 3 days the first week after I bought it.. Then it would not start. Dealer was sure it was flooded, it wasn't. My first gallon of 91 ethanol free gas mixed with Stihl's Ultra oil-(dealer said buying it doubled warranty?) was only half used. I got it to start maybe 5 out of 20 days over the next month. When it wouldn't start, I just used the same fuel, trouble free, in an older, heavier off brand saw. Even if the saw fired, it would often die before I could get to trigger, or would die as soon as I pulled trigger. Eventually I learned to let it sit and warm up 5 minutes the days it started, but it would still hesitate and balk to run at full throttle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The chain saw I waited to buy and put to real use ... I wanted a chain saw for light yard use at my property to take out small trees and shrubs. Also wanted one that would start easy and the C-BE product surely helps. Its a good saw and the folks at Rural King were real good in terms to helping to learn how to use it. On the first day of actual use, about an hour before finishing up the starter rope pulled completely out. We took it back and it was a Saturday evening and there was nobody who could fix it. They were kind enough to replace the rope section so we could work on Sunday. I need to take it back and get it set right. The saw is a strong one and I will let you know more about it as I use it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Engine Good Enough for Warranty Period I purchased a Stihl saw after 10 years of owning another brand of saw. I was doing a little better off financially since my last purchase, so decided to invest some in what I thought was a better quality saw. After a day or two looking at my local dealer, I settled on a 251C 18” bar Stihl. They shop showed me how to use it, crank it, add oil, etc. I thought I was well versed and went home happy. This machine cut trees with ease for about 3 years or 25 hours of use (light user)and thought this was a solid machine. Unknown to me was a flaw that was explained after it was too late. You cannot idle these machines for very long with the chain stopped. They are designed for the engine to over power the break during idle which causes friction, thus heat. After 5-10 minutes it can cause the engine to lock up and there is no repair, only a replacement engine, which is about 80% of a new saw. I called customer service and they explained this is a common problem with Stihl saws. He was very nice and explained why they made them this way, safety and OSHA requirements. For this reason, I will have to eat this large loss, but wanted to advise others to be wary. The CSR said this is in the owners manual somewhere to cover them, so make sure you read it. Again, great machine if longevity is not what you are looking for, but for durability and a company who stands behind their product, this is not the choice. Please share the word as I am and do not idle these saws long!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love my Stihl 251 C-BE I bought this saw last fall and have been using it for all kinds of tasks. I have felled several small to medium trees, maple and Cherry that were dying. I have also used it to clear lots of large honeysuckles from our property and for cutting firewood. The easy start system is awesome actually everything about the saw is awesome....easy to start, use, make chain adjustments, you name it. Stihl has a great product I would recommend this saw to friends and family and would buy another one if something bad happened to mine. Great Job Stihl!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I am very happy with my new chainsaw (MS251 C-BE). I've used it for several hours at a time and it works perfect, no issues. Very easy to start, maintain and has plenty of power to cut through large trees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Start is a BIG Plus I purchased this saw to replace a 15-year-old Stihl that I loved, but was stolen last Thanksgiving during a home burglary. I recently had shoulder surgery and can't tug on a power tool starter cord like I used to. This new Easy Start saw is a dream. One tug and it starts right up, and I can tug it with my left arm. (I'm right handed and had right shoulder surgery.) It has a bit more power then old saw and seems to be just as light. I'm getting older and can't handle a heavy saw. This one fits the bill. I was almost tempted to purchase a bigger saw because it was on sale. I'm glad I didn't. I think the weight of the bigger saw would have been too much for me.
